It's probably just me ...

... but did anyone else feel a little uneasy watching the opening of the Olympics last night?

War drums to start; 2,000 Tai Chi masters kicking and punching in absolute unison; some really tall Chinese army guys pointing their toes skyward as they carried in the Chinese flag -- I found it all very disturbing. It was like watching the Storm Troopers on the death star, carefully choreographed, marching in unison ... showcased with fireworks. I kept waiting to hear the heavy breathing and the altered voice of Darth Vadir doing the voice-over.

In between the scary displays and terminal boredom of the opening ceremony, I kept flipping to the latest shocking news of the Breck Girl -- Edwards -- caught in his lies and stupidity-arrogance as it was being revealed -- and the "War of the Worlds" movie on another channel ...

Somehow, it all came together for me.

China is a super-power now ... and is covering the world with its economic wealth. Yet, our government seems not to understand how significant the Chinese advances are ...

Instead, we have two mental midgets running for President --(although they look like rocket scientists in comparison to the dim bulb we currently have in office) -- a Congress led by communists ... oops, I meant Democrats who decided to take a little break right now without doing anything about oil, illegal immigrants, home foreclosures and a failing real estate market -- and we seem to have nothing going for us right now if you look at our "leadership".

As a nation, we'll sit back for the next two weeks and watch athletes compete in a variety of games. We'll win some and lose some ... we'll praise China for the great sport spectacular.

But there is another competition coming, and I fear we won't be prepared ...

Heaven help us all.

I think it is sad that we have outsourced so much of our technology to other countries, closed our factories and sent those jobs overseas, that we rely on imported foods instead of growning our own. It is also sad that we have gutted the FDA and CPPA and have put ourselves and our children at risk. I fear we are on a very slippery slope.

I second Cheryl. It's a grim picture for sure.
